Honiara can be hot, dusty, and frankly hard work to get around. As the capital of Solomon Islands it attracts business travellers, divers, history buffs and transit passengers on their way to explore the stunning outer islands.

Depending on traffic, the 11km drive from the airport can take an hour. Arriving at Coral Sea Resort is an oasis after a day of traveling. The stunning open air lobby with timber flooring is cool and the breeze from the ocean greets you like a welcomed friend.

VILLAS

We stayed in one of the five villas at the resort, with a view of the Iron Bottom Sound harbour. The semi-self contained villas have high ceilings, a huge bathroom, king bed, kitchenette, your own spa outside on the deck and a lounge area.

DINING

One could be mistaken for thinking you were seated at a five-star restaurant in Kuala Lumpur when dining at The Boardwalk restaurant, with the exception of the lapping waves of the waterfront and the typical Solomon islander smiles from the friendly staff.

With stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and tropical gardens surrounds, The Boardwalk provides a great location for romantic candlelit dinners or a cocktail on the deck watching the sun set is the perfect way to end a day.

The Boardwalk is open for lunch and dinner daily.
